1.6 UTILITIES CLEARANCE
Prior to drilling, Underground Service Alert (USA) will be notified. Drilling
locations near overhead power lines will be checked for drill rig clearances
before drilling. Well locations will be adjusted as needed.
1 2.0 WELL DRILLING
I
C
r
2.1 UNCOMPLETED BORINGS
If a boring is not drilled to depth by the end of a working day, the hollow stem
auger will be left in the uncompleted boring. The opening of the auger will be
covered to prevent materials falling inside the auger. The drilling area will be
cordoned with safety cones.
2.2 ABANDONED BORING
Borings that are difficult to drill or do not encounter groundwater will be
abandoned as determined in the field by SWD. A new boring will be drilled.
Abandoned borings will be grouted with neat cement.
3.0 WELL CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION
It is anticipated that the groundwater wells will be constructed immediately after
drilling. Well construction will be according to the well details (Figure 4) and to
the technical specifications (Appendix A). SWD's consulting Soil's Engineer or
Geologist will log the well installation and provide well logs.
Well installation will be in the presence of EHD inspector. SWD's will
notify EHD Unit 6 inspector(s) at least five (5) working days in advance
about the project schedule and the date and time for the first inspection.
Work Plan- Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation San Joaquin County
May7, 2013 Department Of Public Works
3 Solid Waste Division
The wells will be drilled and developed by Gregg Drilling, a licensed C-57
Contractor. A hollow stem auger drill rig is anticipated to be used to drill the
wells. If the drillings becomes difficult, at any site, then a different type of drill rig
will be brought in.
SWD's consultant soils Engineer or Geologist will observe the drilling and
develop a boring log. Spoils will be dispersed around the drilled boring.
I
C
r
2.1 UNCOMPLETED BORINGS
If a boring is not drilled to depth by the end of a working day, the hollow stem
auger will be left in the uncompleted boring.
