0
Inspections will be conducted during the following time frames:
• One month prior to the normal start of the rainy season
• Within one week after the occurrence of the first two major storm events
• Within one month after the end of the rainy season
The inspections will identify deficiencies and necessary maintenance will be conducted when
weather conditions and site conditions allow.
3.3.3 Maintaining the Vegetative Cover
The vegetative cover will be routinely inspected and evaluated for any signs of stress; that is,
stunted growth, wilting, or changes in its natural color in excess of normal seasonal changes that
may be caused by LFG emissions or leachate seeps. Bare spots will also be identified and
revegetated. Inspections will be performed monthly during the rainy season for the first year and
quarterly thereafter.
Revegetation will use native grasses as defined by the soil conservation service. For postclosure
maintenance, the following activities will be followed:
• Schedule annual review of planting for erosion control, and repairs where needed, no
later than June 1 st of each year.
• Schedule completion of the revegetation and landscaping work no later than
October 30th of each year.
• Perform annual routine maintenance of the vegetated layer, including repair of
damage caused by erosion or sedimentation, and periodic fertilization as necessary.
The County may choose to mow or to graze the cover to facilitate inspection for cracks.
3.3.4 Inspecting and Maintaining the Final Grading
To maintain final grading:
• Erosion damage will be repaired as needed.
• Slopes will be inspected annually at the end of the rainy season. If repairs are needed
to fill low spots or slope grade reversals, this will be accomplished during the summer
before the onset of the next rainy season.
• Postclosure inspections will be carried out to monitor slopes and ensure that grades
promote positive drainage and prevent ponding or grade reversals in drainage
facilities.
PCMP for NCRCSL 3-4 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
0:ISan Joaquin CountyINCRCS01180MIPCPMPIFina1 ReporAPCPMP_Rev-Jan_2010.Doc County of San Joaquin - January 7, 2010
