0
4.2 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND GOOD HOUSEKEEPING
SWPPP requires the conveyance storm systems (berms and ditches) be inspected
monthly during the dry season and weekly during the rainy season. Any
obstructions, damaged control structures, or debris observed during inspection
are to be removed or repaired promptly. Spilled or leaked materials that could
be transported by storm water are also removed, and the source of the spill or
leak is to be eliminated.
Equipment maintenance schedules shall be designed to ensure that site -
associated equipment is operating correctly, minimizing potential spills,
leaks and upset occurrences. Additional maintenance is conducted as needed
when equipment malfunctions are observed.
Vehicle fueling is performed at the fueling area. All vehicles are washed at a
designated wash down area.
General housekeeping and cleaning activities shall be performed daily. Any non
recyclable papers, bags, and small plastic container or materials are picked
up by the end of the day. Litter net fences are kept around the working module
and landfill perimeter at all times.
4.3 SPILL PREVENTION AND RESPONSE
Since only non hazardous materials are accepted, chance of pollution is
minimal if spills do occur. If any spills occur, landfill personnel are to
take the following actions to supplement the procedures to be used in the site
Hazardous Materials Management Plan (see Appendix B):
1) Immediately close off the spill area, the spill is bermed to
prevent contact with any storm drain trenches nearby.
Oj
