File No. 20-1008-36
July 14, 1995
2.7 ENGINEERING
The SJDPW is the project manager and engineer for the project. It will provide engineering
design plans and bench marks for the foundation and vegetative layers. Grade stakes will be
provided by the earthwork contractor. The SJDPW will make modifications, as needed, to these
design plans during construction and provide as-built grading plans of the completed final cover.
Kleinfelder has completed a mix design for the borrow soil to be used for the barrier layer.
Kleinfelder, as CQA Monitor, may modify the mix design during construction should there be a
change in the quality of import clay, equipment operations, or other factors.
Kleinfelder will compile all the CQA testing data for the project in the final CQA report, certify
construction of the barrier layer, and compile a site map to scale showing the location and results
of all CQA testing. The map can be correlated to the as-built drawings produced by the SJDPW.
Any changes to engineering during the project will be approved by the County Project Engineer
and coordinated with the CQA Officer.
2.8 FIELD OBSERVATIONS
Part time field observation of construction of the entire final cover will be provided by SJDPW
field engineers.
Kleinfelder will provide limited construction observation of the foundation and vegetative layers
and full-time observation of construction of the barrier layer.
The SJDPW will keep daily logs and provide summary reports to Kleinfelder for the duration of
the project and coordinate field observation scheduling with Kleinfelder.
GSM.-md CH/95 Page 10 of 31 July 14, 1995
20-1008-36(CQACOR) Copyright 1995,Kleinfelder,Inc.
