Two new LFG wells E-45 and E-46 will be installed within the refuse footprint
(Figure 1 and 2).
Ford Construction will obtain drilling permits from San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (EHD). A boring log will be compiled during
drilling by the contractor using a form provided (Appendix A).
Depths of all wells will be above seasonal ground water table and within the
refuse fill depth of the landfill. Depth of well will not penetrate into native soil.
Drilling of the wells will include excavation of refuse and minor contact with
refuse. Excavated refuse and soil with refuse and construction debris will be
placed in a bin and disposed off-site.
A Abandoned Borings
In the following circumstances a boring will be abandoned:
1. If drilling becomes difficult or an obstruction is encountered
2. Not enough refuse is found in the area
3. Any adverse conditions
Abandoned borings will be backfilled as follows:
• In the refuse: Backfilled with clean soil, moistened and compacted
in two -foot lifts.
• In Soil: Backfilled with neat cement.
2.3 WELL CONSTRUCTION
A It is anticipated all wells will be constructed immediately after drilling.
B Uncompleted borings deeper than three feet will be covered with a one -inch
thick piece of plywood at the end of the working day. The edges of the
plywood will be sealed around with soil to prevent landfill gas from escaping
into the atmosphere. The plywood -covered area will also be flagged with
warning tape.
Work Plan 4 Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill
LFG Extraction Well Installation 2011
