4.1.2 Certificates of Compliance and Conformance <br /> When permitted by the Construction Specifications, the CQA Monitor may accept certificates of <br /> compliance and conformance to establish the acceptability of soil and rock materials. Such certificates <br /> generally state that the material complies with or conforms to a particular code, standard, or <br /> construction drawing. The certificate may be used for acceptance of a product before, or in lieu of, <br /> testing if the Construction Specifications so allow. <br /> 4.2 Construction Testing <br /> Construction testing (quality control testing) will be required during construction to verify that <br /> materials continue to meet specification, are being placed correctly, and will have the engineering <br /> characteristics intended in the design. <br /> 4.2.1 Test Procedures <br /> ' The CQA Monitor shall perform, or cause to be performed, the various field and laboratory tests in <br /> accord with the applicable standards specified in the Contract Documents or this Plan. In most <br /> instances, the applicable procedure will be an ASTM standard. Construction testing shall be <br /> performed while the applicable construction activities are in progress. Where called for in this Plan or <br /> in the Contract Documents,the following test methods shall apply: <br /> Standard Title and Test Description <br /> ASTM D 1556 Density and unit weight of soil in place by the sand-cone method <br /> ASTM D 698 Laboratory compaction characteristics of soils using Standard Effort("Standard Proctor"method) <br /> ASTM D 1557 Laboratory compaction characteristics of soils using Modified Effort("Modified Proctor"method) <br /> ASTM D 422 Particle-size analysis of soils <br /> ASTM D 2922 .
