5. 0 LEACHATE CONTROL MEASURES
Due to the conditions mentioned in section 13 of the Final Closure
Plan, a leachate control system is not feasible or necessary and
will not be installed at the Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill.
Therefore, no cost estimate is included in this report.
6. 0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING SYSTEM
The groundwater monitoring system is already in place at the Harney
Lane Landfill. It consists of one background monitoring well and
three downgradient wells. No additions to the system or additional
costs are anticipated through the closure period. Ground Water and
Surface Water will be monitored throughout the closure period
according to Waste Discharge Requirements issued by the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board. The cost below for
monitoring is estimated for the 15 month closure period.
A contract has already been awarded to EMCON Associates to perform
ground water and surface water monitoring for a period of two
years. The funds for this contract are available from the Solid
Waste Enterprise fund. Therefore, the cost shown below will not be
taken from the closure fund, and no cost is included in the cost
summary for ground water monitoring.
Alk
COST
($25, 000/Year X 1.25 years) _ $31,250
20
