KLEINFELDER <br /> 3.2.6 Field Engineer <br /> The Field Engineer is responsible for: <br /> • day to day work of the QC Technicians, <br /> • generating project documents, <br /> • transmitting documents to the Engineer for further distribution, and <br /> • providing liaison with the construction forces and the Survey Team. <br /> The Field Engineer for the CQA Monitor, Kleinfelder, will be Mr. Steve Mahnke. The Field <br /> Engineers for the SJDPW will be Wes Johnson and Michael Selling. <br /> 3.2.7 Quality Control Technicians <br /> Day-to-day observation, sampling and testing of borrow soils and compacted in-place soil will <br /> be approved by the QC Technician(s). Their role is critical to the success of construction and <br /> to the creation of the required support documents. Their responsibilities include: <br /> • observation of starting conditions, <br /> observation of borrow and import soil, and obtaining samples of such materials for <br /> verification testing, <br /> • observation and testing of stockpile materials, <br /> • observation of prepared subgrade ready for placement of the foundation layer, <br /> • observation of compactive effort, <br /> • collection of samples for laboratory testing, <br /> • transportation of samples to the laboratory under controlled conditions of packaging and <br /> transportation, <br /> • carry out double ring infiltrometer tests under supervision, <br /> • carry out various standard field tests, <br /> • report nonconformance to the Chief QC Technician, and construction personnel when <br /> correction can be made during the normal course of the work, <br /> • report nonconformance to the Engineer when correction cannot readily be achieved to the <br /> satisfaction of the QC Technician so that the Engineer can see that compliance with the <br /> required standards is effected, <br /> GSM.-MD 3EI94 Page 11 of 24 <br /> Copyright 1994 Kleinfelder, Inc. <br />
