5.1.0 Leachate
There is no monitoring and control system for leachate at HLSL because
the landfill is unlined and leachate is not collected.
5.1.11) Landfill Gas Migration Monitoring
5.1.D.1 Monitoring Wells
Offsite LFG migration at HLSL is monitored with 12 perimeter
landfill gas migration monitoring wells, each of which is a "nested"
set of three probes Installed at varying depths within the well
(Figure 2). These wells are spaced less than 1000 feet apart to
adequately monitor for LFG off-site migration. This system has
been accepted for the purpose of monitoring off-site migration
since closure of HLSL.
5.1.D.2 Monitoring Method and Procedure
Offsite migration is monitored according to HLSL's revised Landfill
Gas Monitoring Plan (Appendix B).
5.1.D.3 Monitoring Frequency
All migration monitoring wells are monitored in accordance with
CCR Title 27 Section 20933.
5.1.E Additional Soil Gas Monitoring
Select soil perimeter LFG migration monitoring well probes (GW-9
Intermediate and GW-10-Deep) are sampled semi-annually for
concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in accordance
with the WDR's.
Postclosure Maintenance Plan San Joaquin County
Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill 5 Department of Public Works
Revised July 30,2009 Solid Waste Division
