The concentrations of gasses asses were recorded during the TO-15 sampling event, and a
1 g
sample was collected from the probe most likely to have the highest VOC concentration.
Methane concentrations were zero in all perimeter migration monitoring wells during the third
quarter monitoring event . VOCs were detected in all four soil gas well probes during the third
quarter monitoring event.
The highest VOC concentration was found in the West Header of the landfill gas system.
Concentrations of major gasses (Methane, Carbon Dioxide, and Oxygen) and pressure were
measured using a CES-LANDTEC GEMTM2000 portable gas detector on August 2, 2013.
GROUNDWATER DIRECTION AND FLOW TE
The general direction of groundwater flow, determined from the elevations of water in the
groundwater wells, is to the south, and was consistent between quarters (Figure 2 and 3).
Groundwater flow velocity was calculated to be about 70.87 feet per year with a gradient of
0.0021foot per year during the third quarter 2013. Groundwater flow velocity was calculated to be
approximately 74.81 feet per year with a gradient of 0.00222 foot per year during the fourth
quarter 2013. (Appendix F).
STANDARD OBSERVATIONS
The site was inspected monthly throughout the monitoring period (Appendix G). The information
on the original field form was transcribed for legibility. The original forms with signatures can be
forwarded upon request.
RUN-OFF/RUN-ON FACILITIES
General
The HLSL utilizes a single facility to control run-off and run-on: a perimeter berm/road
surrounding the site, which generally prevents any water from entering the site. Water drains
from the landfill property to the retention pond. A discharge to the Waters of the State occurs
when water is discharged from the retention pond.
No water was discharged at any time during the second semester 2013. The discharge pumps
are not active unless manually activated by Solid Waste staff.
ANNUAL MONITORING SUMMARY REPORT
In accordance with provision G.2 of the WDRs, the Annual Report shall include the following:
a. Tabular and graphical summaries of the results of the prior year, including, representative time
series plots and contaminant contour maps. This is included in Appendix F.
Hamey Lane Sanitary Landfill 9 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
2"'Semester and Annual 2013 Groundwater Monitoring Report County of San Joaquin—January 31,2014
