positioned on lower level to facilitate loading operations. <br /> • Allowance for interior vehicle maneuvering. <br /> • The Transfer Building will have the capability to be secured to prevent <br /> unauthorized entry via doors. <br /> • Bollards, and embedded steel protection plates will be provided to <br /> protect doors and building elements. <br /> • Fire extinguisher cabinets will be provided throughout the building as <br /> required by the Codes and Manteca Lathrop Fire District. The <br /> cabinets will be locked with a glass cover which must be broken with <br /> an attached object for use. <br /> • The "Z" wall and transfer pit opening will be provided with a special <br /> I design of depressed metal plates, high strength concrete topping, or <br /> steel rails to reduce concrete wear from loading equipment. <br /> • Natural lighting for all areas will be provided via skylights and/or <br /> translucent wall or roof panels to supplement artificial lighting. <br /> Disposal vehicles using the station enter the appropriate disposal area, back <br /> into the stalls shown and then deposit waste over the raised edge of the <br /> disposal areas to the Tipping/Sorting Floor below. <br /> In general, Non-Automated Disposal vehicles are unloaded by hand by the site <br /> users and Automated Disposal vehicles mechanically unload waste to the <br /> Tipping/Sorting Floor. The waste which is deposited down to the <br /> Tipping/Sorting Floor is sorted by Station laborers for selected recyclable <br /> materials. Although. recyclin>? equipment may be included in the transfer <br /> building in the future, at this time the floor will remain open <br /> and will nnL— <br /> e recyc mg eq en . <br /> Recyclable materials which are hand sorted from the waste will be pushed by <br /> a loader to recycling bins located beneath a "Z wall" at the south end of the <br /> station. Remaining residual waste will be pushed by a loader to transfer <br /> trucks under an opening in the floor above the transfer tunnel. <br /> Office and Maintenance Building Floor Plans <br /> The floor plan for the Office and maintenance Building is shown on Drawing <br /> RSI-5. The building will be of steel frame construction with metal siding and <br /> reinforced concrete foundations and will be approximately 10,000 square feet. <br /> The office area will include offices, a lunch room, locker rooms and rest <br /> rooms, as shown on Drawing RSI-5. Equipment/work areas proposed for the <br /> maintenance areas include: <br /> • Two vehicle maintenance bays (with lubrication equipment) <br /> r • An automatic truck wash (with recirculating water system) <br /> • A parts storage bay <br /> ' • Heating units <br /> • Air conditioning for office space <br /> 07549001.012 21 September 23,1993 <br />
