Plan and will be accessed from the Lovelace Road entrance for the O&M
Building. The transfer vehicles will use an enclosed automatic truck wash
located on the east end of the O&M Building. The truck wash will be
equipped with a system that recycles wash water. Trucks will generally access
the wash from the O&M parking lot. Roll up doors will be provided at both
ends of the truck wash for drive through capability.
(4) Access
A traffic and waste flow plan for the site is shown on Drawing RSI-7. The
plan shows the routing of traffic into the facility and also out of the site. As
shown on the plan the Station will have two entry points from Lovelace Road
and three exit points to Lovelace Road.
c/d. Traffic and Waste Flow Diagram
A schematic of the waste flow through the facility is shown on Drawing RSI-6. The
Table on the Drawing lists the waste quantity projections for each traffic flow path
shown on the Drawing. The waste flow quantities are ranges for the year 1995 (when
the expansion will begin operations) and for the year 2010 (the design year for the
expansion).
e. Surface Drainage and Runoff Control Plan
Storm Drainage:
There are no off-site drainage facilities. The design of the drainage system is shown
on Drawing RSI-7. The drainage system will consist of a network of catch basins and
pipes draining into a retention pond. Each branch of the storm drainage system will
have a grease and grit separator installed prior to points of discharge to the pond.
The retention pond will collect and retain site drainage for percolation and
evaporation.
The transfer tunnel approach and exit lanes, outside of the Transfer Building; and the
Recycling Storage Area will each be provided with a sump and pump (each is a dual
pump system) connected to the on-site drainage system. The two entry scales will be
provided with gravity drains. Grading of pavement in the area of all scales will be
designed to divert flows away from the scales. The scale in the Recycling Storage
Area (relocated from the existing entrance) will be provided with a sump basin and
gravity drain pipe to a catch basin in the Recycling Storage Area.
Details on drainage design are in Section 2.c. below.
Groundwater:
The transfer tunnel and pit will be designed to accommodate groundwater rises up
above the level of lower portions of the tunnel.
