are based on an estimated 15% to 2 % shrinkage factor and the assumptions that are
with the calculations. A copy of the Kleinfelder geotechnical investigation, dated
January 7, 1993, is in the back of Appendix F.
It should be noted that the estimate, in part, is based on a limited number of borings
to investigate the amount of waste which will be removed and backfilled in the
northeast corner of the site. The actual quantity could vary considerably from that
amount. The County intends to have an industrial hygienist on-site during excavation
of waste to monitor conditions and health and safety procedures for waste removal.
B. Station Improvements
1. Identification Signs
The expanded Station will have a large entry sign reading "County of San Joaquin -
Lovelace Road Transfer Station". The existing signs located along Airport Way,
Union Road and Lovelace Road, indicating the direction to the "Transfer Station",
will remain.
2. Entry Signs
The current entry sign for the Station will be moved to a new location along the entry
lanes to be constructed for the expansion.
3. Station Security
The expansion project will include installation of an 8 foot high (with 2 foot barbed
wire outrigger) chain link fence around the perimeter of the Station. The location
of this fence is shown on Drawing RSI-2. Electronic operators for fence gates will
be given to authorized personnel only. In addition to the fence the facility will
continue to be equipped with an electronic security system at strategic locations to
detect unauthorized entry after hours.
4. Roads
The current roads for the Station are constructed of asphalt concrete. The proposed
expansion includes the paving with A.C.and Portland cement concrete as shown on
Drawing RSI-2. Maintenance and cleaning of roads will be performed by the County
as needed.
5. Visual Screening
The existing station has limited trees and tarpaulin visual screening on selected
lengths of perimeter fencing. Improvements to the visual appearance of the Station
are proposed for the Project which will include:
• Planting of trees around the perimeter
07549001.012 28 September 23,1993
