projections, resulting from the lowest anticipated recycling level of 5%.
Year 1995 Waste Transfer Truck Needs:
If the Station recycles 5% of the incoming waste stream in the year 1995,projected
average daily transfer volumes would approximately be between 436 and 505 tons,
based on "high"and "low"station projections (Table HI.C.3.a-5%). This would result
in approximately a total of 26 to 30 trips daily to the Foothill Sanitary Landfill
assuming conservatively that the average transfer load is 17 tons.
To estimate transfer vehicles required, it is assumed that four transfer trips per truck
per day will occur (based on data of transfer trips to the Foothill Sanitary Landfill).
Under these conditions, 7 to 8 transfer trucks would be required. The Solid Waste
Division currently has eight trucks available for use, which includes a spare. This will
be sufficient during initial years of operation. There are 10 parking stalls proposed
for transfer trucks for the proposed Station expansion Project.
Year 2010 Waste Transfer Truck Needs Projections:
If the Station recycles only 5% of the incoming waste stream in the year 2010,
projected average daily transfer volumes would approximately be between 438 and
714 tons, based on previous "high"and "low"station projections. This would result
in approximately a total of 26 to 42 trips daily to the Foothill Sanitary Landfill
assuming conservatively that the average transfer load is 17 tons.
Assuming four transfer trips per truck per day will occur, approximately 7 to 11
transfer trucks would be required. There are 10 parking stalls available for transfer
trucks for the proposed Station expansion Project.
The above transfer vehicle estimates for both years 1995 and 2010 are conservative
in that 20 ton loads are achievable, and the Station will likely recycle more than 5%,
particularly in the long term to the year 2010.
Transfer Truck Specifications:
The top loading transfer trailers are equipped with plastic mesh (1/2 inch grid)
covers, which are hydraulically placed after exiting the tunnel. According to
specifications for the transfer trucks, trailer dimensions are 47'-0"(46"-6"inside) by
8'-6" (8"-0" inside). A copy of the specifications for the transfer trailers is in
Appendix H. This information was used for detailed sizing of the transfer floor
opening.
Other Equipment:
Front End Loaders 2
Tilt frame trucks to move bins 2
Pedestal Mounted Tamping Crane I
07549001.012 31 September 23,1993
