Granular bentonite shall be placed on the overlaps. <br /> 3.7 MATERIALS IN CONTACT WITH THE GEOSYNTHETIC CLAY LINER <br /> A. Installation on rough surfaces shall be carefully performed to minimize damage to <br /> the geosynthetic clay liner. <br /> B. Equipment used for placing soils shall not be driven directly on the geosynthetics <br /> overlying the geosynthetic clay liner. The GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR shall <br /> ensure that the geosynthetic clay liner is not damaged while working around the <br /> appurtenances. <br /> 3.8 REPAIR <br /> A. Any holes or tears in the geosynthetic clay liner shall be repaired by placing a <br /> geosynthetic clay liner patch over the hole. On slopes greater than 5 percent, the <br /> patch shall overlap the edges of the hole or tear by a minimum of 2 ft (0.6 m) in all <br /> directions. On slopes 5 percent or flatter, the patch shall overlap the edges of the <br /> hole or tear by a minimum of I ft(0.3 m) in all directions. The patch shall be <br /> secured with a water-based adhesive, if approved by the Manufacturer and by the <br /> QA/QC CONSULTANT. <br /> B. Care shall be taken to remove any soil or other material that may have penetrated the <br /> torn geosynthetic clay liner. <br /> C. All repairs shall be made at no additional cost to the OWNER. <br /> D.
