A. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall be solely responsible for making all <br /> excavations in a safe manner. Provide appropriate measures to retain excavation <br /> sideslopes and prevent rock falls to ensure that persons working in or near the <br /> excavation are protected. <br /> 1.9 CODES,ORDINANCES,AND STATUTES <br /> A. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall be familiar with, and comply with, all <br /> applicable codes, ordinances, statutes, and bear sole responsibility for the <br /> penalties imposed for noncompliance. <br /> 1.10 TOLERANCES <br /> A. All material limits shall be constructed within the tolerances specified in Section <br /> 01410, SURVEYS. Minimum thicknesses and slopes shall be as shown on the <br /> Construction Drawings. All grading shall be performed to maintain slopes and <br /> drainage as shown. No reverse slopes will be permitted. <br /> PART2 PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 GENERAL <br /> A. Provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to accomplish the Work <br /> specified in this section. <br /> 2.2 GENERAL EARTHFILL <br /> A. General Earthfill material shall be used where indicated on the Construction <br /> Drawings and for the construction of berms and backfill of anchor trenches and to <br /> bring subgrade to required grade where no other material is specified. The <br /> material shall be obtained from onsite excavations or stockpiles and shall be free <br /> from roots, organic matter, trash, debris, rocks or clods larger than 3 inches, and <br /> other deleterious materials. General Earthfill from the Eastern or Northern <br /> Borrow Areas may be required to provide sufficient material to backfill the <br /> existing sedimentation basin. <br /> B. The top 3-inches of General Earthfill that will be overlain by geosynthetics shall <br /> not contain particles greater than 1/2-inch or any materials that may protude from <br /> the surface that could puncture the overlying geosynthetics. <br /> 2.3 GRANULAR DRAINAGE MATERIAL <br /> A. Granular Drainage Material (GDM): Clean, washed, well-rounded, hard, durable <br /> sandy gravel free from foreign materials. Material shall have a maximum particle <br /> size of 3/8 inch and shall have less than 3 percent passing the No. 200 sieve. <br /> B. GDM shall contain no limestone or other material that will adversely react with <br /> leachate. <br /> Forward Compost Facility Stormwater Improvements <br /> 02300 4 EARTHWORK <br />
