' 20 June 2006
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0839
' Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to drilling activities, the proposed drilling locations will be clearly marked and a utility
' clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
' 2.2. SOIL BORING ADVANCEMENT
AGE proposes to advance one soil probe boring using a CME-75HT truck-mounted drill rig
equipped with 8.25-inch hollow-stem augers as part of site assessment activities. The soil boring will
be advanced to assess the vertical and lateral extents of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and
ground water. Based on the distribution of hydrocarbon contamination encountered to date during
' the ongoing investigation,AGE proposes to advance the soil boring approximately 36 feet northeast
of monitoring well MW-1, in the planter on the eastern edge of the property(Figure 2). The boring
will be advanced to approximately 80 feet below surface grade(bsg);total depth of the boring may
' vary according to hydrogeologic conditions encountered during drilling activities.
First-encountered ground water and selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California
' Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for:
' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline(TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015M; and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX)and fuel additives methyl tertiary-
butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-
butyl ether(ETBE),tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME), 1,2-dibromoethane(EDB),and 1,2-
dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B.
Laboratory reports for the soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
t (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations.
1 2.3. WELL DRILLING AND SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
' AGE proposes to advance six pilot soil borings at the site for the installation of one ground water
monitoring well and five SVE wells. Using a CME-75HT truck-mounted drill rig equipped with
8.25-inch hollow-stem augers, the monitoring well pilot soil boring will be advanced to a depth of
80 feet bsg;three of the SVE well pilot borings will be advanced to a depth of approximately 30 feet
bsg and two SVE well pilot soil borings will be advanced to a depth of 60 feet bsg. The total depth
of each well boring may vary according to geologic/hydrogeologic conditions encountered during
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
