The proposed locations of the SVE wells (Figure 2) are based on the lithology, recent
ground water trends, and hydrocarbon-impact to soil (Figure 3). The proposed construction of the
SVE wells will place the well screens within the coarser-grained layers in the vadose(unsaturated)
' zone in areas of known petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil.
• One boring will be advanced approximately 170 feet east-northeast of monitoring well
' MW-4 for the installation of a ground water monitoring well, on the vacant lot east of the
adjacent McDonald's site;
' • Two borings (one shallow and one deep) will be advanced adjacent to monitoring well
MW-4 for the installation of SVE wells;
• Two borings (one shallow and one deep)will be advanced near monitoring well MW-3 for
the installation of SVE wells; and
• One boring(shallow)will be advanced near monitoring well MW-2 for the installation of an
SVE well.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for the constituents listed in
I Section 2.2.. Laboratory reports of soil analysis, testing methods, laboratory QA/QC reports, and
sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report of findings and
' recommendations.
' 2.4. WELL INSTALLATION, DEVELOPMENT, AND SURVEY
The pilot soil boring located in the vacant lot east of McDonald's will be completed as a single-level
' ground water monitoring well screened from 60 feet to 80 feet bsg.The proposed shallow SVE wells
will be screened from approximatelyl5 feet to 30 feet bsg and the deep SVE wells will be screened
from approximately 45 feet to 60 feet bsg, to be used in the performance of two 8-hour SVE pilot
' tests. The results of the pilot test will be used to determine the number and placement of additional
SVE wells, if needed, for the final design of the remediation system at the site.
' Following installation, each well will be developed to maximize water flow and minimize the
amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing. The top of the well
casings (well heads) will be surveyed to determine their elevation relative to mean sea level.
2.5. GROUND WATER SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS
' Following the installation of the new monitoring well, ground water monitoring and sampling
activities will be conducted for all of the wells on a quarterly basis for a minimum of one year(four
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
