County EHD that the company was prepared to continue with the <br /> Project as soon as possible, & had authorized Mr. Hunter of WJH <br /> to proceed with obtaining drilling bids & preparing and sub- <br /> mitting a workplan to the County EHD for review & approval. A <br /> copy of that letter is included as EXHIBIT G. <br /> The following workplan has been prepared to accomplish the <br /> objectives detailed above. <br /> ORKP FOR PLA NG 1 ONITO ING WE L A 282 WES <br /> WAS N N VDST O C <br /> 1. Mobilize V & W Drilling Co. auger rig equipped with 8 1/4" OD <br /> hollow stem augers. Equipment to include either a standard Cali- <br /> fornia Modified splitspoon sampler, or wireline operated conti- <br /> nuous coring equipment designed to hold clean 2" or 2 1/2" dia- <br /> meter metal tubes. The location of the proposed monitoring well <br /> is shown on PLATL VI, approximately in the center of the site of <br /> the former excavation. <br /> 2. One (1) soil sample will be collected at 10' below grade <br /> using thoroughly decontaminated coring equipment as specified by <br /> the geologist in charge. Additional samples may be taken if <br /> field conditions warrant. <br /> 3. The retrieved core(s) will be briefly described, and one (1) <br /> tube will be promptly sealed with teflon tape & plastic end caps, <br /> & secured with duct tape. Each preserved sample will be placed <br /> on ice in a sealed chest pending transport to FGL Environ- mental <br /> for analysis. Upon completion of drilling activities, the <br /> preserved sample(s) will be transported under chain of custody to <br /> FGL with instructions to analyze for BTEX (EPA 8020, ) & TPH-G, <br /> (EPA 8015M, ) using detection limits as specified by the appro- <br /> priate regulatory agencies. <br /> 4. Drill spoils & all fluids will be placed in sealed drums, <br /> Properly identified, and stored on site pending results of labor- <br /> atory analysis_ <br /> 5. The auger hole will be advanced to approximately 25' below <br /> grade, or a minimum of 10' below the water table. Due to tidal <br /> influences, groundwater may be encountered from 7' to 15' bgl. <br /> B. After verifying the depth to groundwater, 2" OD flush screw- <br /> thread blank & slotted Schedule 40 or greater will be installed, <br /> gravel packed, sealed and grouted as shown on the attached <br />. schematic, PLATE VII. The top of the perforations will extend <br /> 5 <br />
