Mobilize V & W Drilling Co. auger rig equipped with 8 1/4" OD
hollow stem augers. Equipment to include either a standard Cali-
fornia Modified splitspoon sampler, or wireline operated conti-
nuous coring equipment designed to hold clean 2" or 2 1/2" dia-
meter metal tubes. The location of the proposed monitoring well
is shown on PLATL VI, approximately in the center of the site of
the former excavation.
2. One (1) soil sample will be collected at 10' below grade
using thoroughly decontaminated coring equipment as specified by
the geologist in charge. Additional samples may be taken if
field conditions warrant.
3. The retrieved core(s) will be briefly described, and one (1)
tube will be promptly sealed with teflon tape & plastic end caps,
& secured with duct tape. Each preserved sample will be placed
on ice in a sealed chest pending transport to FGL Environ- mental
for analysis. Upon completion of drilling activities, the
preserved sample(s) will be transported under chain of custody to
FGL with instructions to analyze for BTEX (EPA 8020, ) & TPH-G,
(EPA 8015M, ) using detection limits as specified by the appro-
priate regulatory agencies.
4. The auger hole will be advanced to approximately 25' below
grade, or a minimum of 10' below the water table. Due to tidal
influences, groundwater may be encountered from 7' to 15' bgl.
B. After verifying the depth to groundwater, 2" OD flush screw-
thread blank & slotted Schedule 40 or greater will be installed,
gravel packed, sealed and grouted as shown on the attached
. schematic, PLATE VII.
