Before collecting samples, the sampling team will confirm the holding times, detection limits, <br /> and sample volumes with the specified laboratory. To characterizes and transport the waste <br /> material off-site, the following test methods will be used: <br /> ➢ CAM 17 Metals (Sb,As, Ba, Be,Ce, Cr, Co, Cu, Pb, Hg', Mo, Ni, Se,Ag,TI,V,Zn)TTLC, EPA <br /> Method 60108 or 60208 <br /> ➢ CAM 17 Metals (Sb,As, Ba, Be, Ce,Cr,Co,Cu, Pb, Hg', Mo, Ni,Se,Ag,TI,V,Zn) STLC, EPA <br /> Method 6010B or 60208 <br /> ➢ TCLP RCRA Metals (Ag,As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Hg`, Pb, Se), EPA Method 60108 or 60208 <br /> ➢ SVOCs, EPA Method 8270C <br /> ➢ VOCs, EPA Method 8260 <br /> ➢ TPHd, EPA Method 8015 <br /> `Note: All mercury (Hg) analysis (TTLC, STLC, TCLP) will be by EPA Method 7471A <br /> 3.2. Field and Laboratory Quality Control <br /> Due to the small size of the disposal areas, no field duplicate samples or other field quality <br /> control sampling will be required. The data will undergo laboratory quality assurance and will <br /> be validated as specified in Appendix A of this work plan. <br /> 4. Sampling Ian <br /> This sampling plan is intended to document the procedural and analytical requirements to <br /> provide sufficient data to characterize the soil in the two solid waste disposal areas and in <br /> other solid waste disposal areas that may be encountered at the site. This plan was <br /> compiled after reviewing the U.S. EPA Region 9 guidance document entitled, 'Instructions <br /> for the One-time Sampling Event Sampling and Analysis Plan," dated March 1998, and <br /> previous CIWMB sampling results. <br /> 4.1 . Sampling Methodology <br /> Each solid waste disposal area will be considered a separate unit. The CIWMB project <br /> engineer/manager will evaluate how many areas to sample. The type and amount of <br /> samples will depend upon the volume of suspected waste material. This sampling plan is <br /> designed for solid waste areas up to 1,000 cy. <br /> If the solid waste area has been excavated and stockpiled, composite sampling will be used <br /> to characterize the soil for samples requiring non-VOC analyses. Drive samples will be <br /> collected for samples requiring VOC analyses. Composite sampling will be conducted by <br /> using a new disposable hand shovel to dig up soil from within the perimeter of the solid <br /> waste area and place it in a clean disposable bucket for mixing. The mixed soil will then be <br /> placed into the appropriate sample containers. A minimum of four locations will be selected <br /> for compositing each sample.
