❑ Potentially Significant Impact
❑ Potentially Significant Unless Mitigated
❑ Less Than Significant Impact
X No Impact
12. Population and Housing
Project activities likely to create an impact:
• Removal of top 18 to 24 inches of burned material, ash and visibly affected soil within gravel
pit area
• Removal of localized areas of deeper soil containing elevated concentrations of metals or
pyrolytic oil.
Description of Environmental Setting:
The proposed project area is approximately 3 miles south of the City of Tracy in San Joaquin
County. The current population in Tracy is approximately 65,643 and is expected to grow to
74,122 by the year 2010. The estimated population of all San Joaquin County for 2002 to
596,000.
Two active aggregate mining operations are located adjacent to the Site. Teichert Aggregate is
located north of the Site and RMC Pacific Materials is located south of the Site. An abandoned
Western Pacific Railroad spur borders the Site to the northwest. An asphalt plant is located west
of the Site and an apricot orchard is located to the east. The closest residence is located
approximately Y< mile east of the Site.
Analysis of Potential Impacts:
Describe to what extent project activities would:
a. Induce substantial population growth in area, either directly(for example, by proposing
new homes and businesses)or indirectly(for example, through extension of roads or
other infrastructure).
No Impact. The proposed project will not induce substantial population growth in the
area, either directly or indirectly.
b. Displace substantial numbers of existing housing, necessitating the construction of
replacement housing elsewhere.
No Impact. There is no housing located in the proposed project site (CDHCD 2003). The
proposed project would not displace any existing housing and would not necessitate the
construction of any replacement housing elsewhere.
G. Displace substantial numbers of people, necessitating the construction of replacement
housing elsewhere.
No Impact. The proposed project would not displace any people, and would not
necessitate the construction of any replacement housing elsewhere (CDHCD 2003).
39
