In such cases, the following general guidelines should <br /> be followed. <br /> i <br /> .. Heat Stroke <br /> Symptoms: Flushed, hot dry skin, high body temperature, dizziness, nausea, <br /> headache, rapid pulse, unconsciousness. <br /> Treatment: Immediately cool body if temperature has reached 105° F by removing <br /> "} clothing and sponging body with alcohol or cool water, or placing in <br /> tub of cold water until temperature is lowered sufficiently [102°F]. Stop <br /> cooling and observe for 10 minutes. Once temperature remains <br /> } lowered, dry victim off. Use fans or air conditioning if available. Do <br />- } not give coffee, tea or alcohol. Transfer immediately to hospital. <br /> Heat Stress <br /> Symptoms: Pale, clammy skin, profuse sweating, weakness, headache, nausea. <br /> 1 Treatment: Move victim to shade or cooler place. Immediately remove any <br /> protective clothing. Slowly have victim sip water or Gatorade. Victim <br /> t should lie down with feet raised. Fan and cool with cold compresses. If <br /> vomiting occurs, transport victim to hospital. <br /> 7 <br /> Heat Exhaustion <br />_ 3 <br /> Symptoms: Muscular spasms/cramps, usually in abdomen or limbs. <br /> Treatment: Warm moist heat and pressure to reduce pain.
