d) dikes , gutters, aprons and flares <br /> e) other miscellaneous areas designated by the Engineer <br /> Asphalt concrete shall be produced from commercial quality asphalt <br /> and aggregates. The spreading and compacting requirements in <br /> Sections 39-6.02, "Spreading," and 39-6.03, "Compacting," of the <br /> Standard Specifications will not apply. <br /> The asphalt concrete shall conform to the following requirements: <br /> 1. Asphalt concrete shall be produced at a central mixing plant. <br /> 2. Aggregate shall conform to the 3/8-inch maximum, specified in <br /> Section 39-2.02, "Aggregate," of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 3. The amount of asphalt binder to be mixed with the aggregate <br /> shall be between 4 percent and 7 percent by weight of the dry <br /> aggregate as approved by the Engineer. <br /> 4. Spreading and compacting shall be performed by methods that <br /> will produce an asphalt concrete surfacing of uniform <br /> smoothness, texture, and density. <br /> 5. Asphalt concrete shall be spread and compacted in layers <br /> according to the following table: <br /> Total required Top layer Next layer down <br /> 0.20' or less total - <br /> 0.25' total - <br /> 0.30' 0.15' 0.15' <br /> 0.35' 0.20' 0. 15' <br /> 6. Compaction shall be performed with a tandem roller weighing <br /> between 4 and 6 tons unless otherwise approved by the Engineer. <br /> The completed surface shall be thoroughly compacted, smooth, true <br /> to grade and cross section and free from ruts, humps , depressions <br /> or irregularities. Depressions over 0.03 feet in 10 feet and <br /> other surface irregularities shall be corrected to the <br /> satisfaction of the Engineer. <br /> Pavement defects shall be corrected at no additional cost to the <br /> City. No payment will be made for tonnage of asphalt concrete <br /> used in corrective work. <br /> 6-73 CURBS, SIDEWALKS AND MISCELLANEOUS CONCRETE <br /> 6-73.01 General : Curb, gutter, sidewalk, driveways, alley <br /> approaches, side inlet catch basins, drop inlet catch basins and <br /> any other miscellaneous concrete structures shall be constructed <br /> as shown on the plans, and applicable City of Lodi Standard Plans, <br /> and shall conform to the provisions in Section 73 "Concrete Curbs <br /> 6.9 <br /> TANKA/TXTW.n?m <br />
