i
Classification System. Laboratory quantification wil be conducted on samples at the interval
showing substantial signs of petroleum hydrocarbons. The specific samples which will be
submitted to the laboratory will be determined by the n site supervising geologist.
.s .
All soil samples collected and not submitted to the lab ratory for analysis will be screened in the
field with a PID (Thermodine 580B) for the presence f volatile aromatics. Due to high rainfall
far the past two years, it is expecte t a -m©re-th avo_soil_.samples will_be.collected before
the first water interface or capillary fringe is encounter d.
i
Grab water samples will be collected through a two inch well casing, temporarily installed in
each soil boring. It is our experience in the past, that a representative water sample can be
collected from this shallow water interface through the temporary casing. The overall depth of
the soil boring is not expected to be greater than 15 f t. Ten feet of Schedule 40 P.V.C. blank
followed by five feet of a Schedule 40 P.V.C. screened interval creening interval will be
of.01" slot size and placed so that all fie feet of scree will be below the static water level The
exact depth and or location of the well creep will determined in the field by the on site
geologist, during the drilling of each soil boring.
A detailed soil boring log with the screened interval location will be completed for each sample
point installe
A minimum of two discrete soil samples ill be colle ted from the soil boring from appropriate
ons representing the ve geo ogic strata and by field indications of contamination. One
sample from the vadose zone and one at the capillary fringe. Each of the samples will be
collected with a clean stainless steel driven core sa ler. A new, clean 2 inch x 6 inch brass
sample tube will be used to contain the sample collectA. Upon completing the collection of the
undisturbed sample, the brass tube containing the soi I sample will be sealed with Teflon tape,
clean plastic end caps, duct taped, labeled and placet in a chilled ice chest To ensure sample
integrity all hand augering equipment and the drive sa pler will be decontaminated with a steam
cleaner between each sample point. A sample Chain-3f-Custody (COC) will be initiated and all
samples will be labeled and entered into the (COC) al the time of collection. The samples will
be placed into a ice chest with ice and blue ice to maintain a level of 4 degrees celsius while in
transit to the laboratory. Samples submitted to Sherwood Analytical Laboratory in Hilmar,
California; DHS Certification #1400 will be requested to be analyzed for TPH- Gasoline, (EPA
Method 8015 Mod, B.T.X.E.- Benzene, Toluene, Et yl Benzene, Total Xylene (EPA Method
8020) and Oxygenates MTBE., TAME, DIPS, ETBE, TBA, (EPA Method 8260)
The following summary table indicates the detection limits requested from the laboratory.
TED PETERS TRUCKING 1 MAP FIECA WORKPLAN
3
