i
center of the auger. The sampler will be driven 18-inches with a standard 140-pound
i
hammer dropped 30 inches The number of blows required to drive the sampler each
successive 6-inches will be counted and recorded to give an indication of soil consistency.
A representative sample from each sample interval will be tested with a photoionizing
organic vapor meter (OVM) Screening will be performed by positioning the OVM probe
approximately 1-inch from the fresh surface of each sediment tube recovered during
sampling. The OVM reading will be obtained promptly after removal of the samples from
the sampler. Soil samples selected for chemical analysis will include the samples taken from
just above the ground water surface and the samples collected from each boring with the
highest OVM reading.
I
Samples collected for chemical analyses will be promptly sealed with aluminum foil,
4 f
plastic caps, and tape. They will then be labeled and promptly placed in iced storage for
transport to the analytical laboratory for testing. Chain-of-Custody Records will be initiated
by the sampler and will accompany the samples to the laboratory Copies of these records
will be presented in the final Report.
,
E
All drill cuttings generated during drilling will be left at the site This soil will be
segregated into two stockpiles, based on OVM readings. One,stockpile will contain soil with
positive OVM readings and the other with soil producing no OVM readings Soil cuttings
I will be placed on, and covered with, plastic sheeting and secured from weather.
E E E
