IMNSWIMM <br /> {fes <br /> GeoStretegies Inc. <br /> Gettler-Ryan Inc. <br /> August 23, 1991 <br /> Page 2 <br /> i <br /> FIELD EXCAVATION ACTIVITIES <br /> F,�mer UGST Excavatiotls <br /> The four UGST's were removed June 26, 1991. Tank removal and soil <br /> sampling was witnessed by representatives of the Manteca Fire Department and <br /> the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division. <br /> Approximately 150 cubic yards of soil was removed and stockpiled on-site <br /> during the product tank removal. Approximately 30 cubic yards of soil was <br /> excavated during the waste oil tank removal. Observation of the three UGSTs <br /> containing product showed them to be in good condition with no visible holes. <br /> The waste oil tank was also in good condition with no visible holes. Shoring <br /> f and excavation of the new UGST location were conducted on July 9 and 10, <br /> E 1991. <br /> Trenching from the UGST complex to the ser rice islands was conducted to <br /> remove the subsurface product lines. Visual inspection of the fiberglass product <br /> lines showed them to be in good condition. Approximately 20 cubic yards of <br /> sail was excavated and added to the former tank excavation stockpile. <br /> Four hydraulic lifts were removed from the service station location by <br /> its footing. A 15-gallon hydraulic fluid tank was <br /> excavating around each lift and <br /> also removed. All appeared to be in good condition with no visibly holes or <br /> leaking. <br /> An 8-cubic foot grease trap and an oil-water separator were removed from <br /> inside the service station building. Both were observed to be in good condition <br /> with no visible leaks. <br /> SOIL SAMPLING <br /> Soil samples were collected in clean stainless steel tubes covered at both ends <br /> with either aluminum foil or teflon and sealed with plastic end caps. The soil <br /> samples were labeled, entered on a Chain-of-Custody form, put into a cooler <br /> with blue ice and transported to western Environmental Science and Technology <br /> (WEST), a State-certified analytical laboratory located in Davis, California. <br /> 728601.4 <br />
