6.6 OTHER BENEFICIAL USES <br /> Ash may be utilized in other beneficial use applications not specifically included above, <br /> provided that the other beneficial uses are consistent with applicable rules and <br /> regulations, subject to applicable regulatory approvals, as necessary. <br /> 7.0 FUEL AND ASH MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES <br /> The following procedures have been established by DTES for the management of fuel <br /> and Ash at the Site to ensure the protection of human health, safety and the environment. <br /> 7.1 FEEDSTOCK <br /> Fuel received at the Facility includes urban, agricultural and forest derived biomass that <br /> is delivered to the Facility via truck and weighed at the time of delivery. The procedures <br /> associated with the management of the fuel including inspection and load rejection; <br /> sampling and analysis; receiving, storage and use; and quality assurance/quality control <br /> are described in the DTES' Fuel Management Plan. <br /> 7.2 ASH <br /> 7.2.1 FLY ASH <br /> DTES is equipped with storage silos capable of storing 3 days production of fly ash. The <br /> silo outlet is equipped with a conditioning system for blending water, calcium chloride, <br /> scrubber blowdown and fly ash to mitigate any potential dust emissions. Liquid flow can <br /> be adjusted to increase or decrease the moisture content of the fly ash to acceptable <br /> levels. DTES employees and contracted transporters manage fly ash per DTES <br /> guidelines. <br /> Fly ash unloading is monitored closely to prevent overloading. If a trailer gets overloaded, <br /> provisions are made to dump some of the fly ash in a designated area for loading into the <br /> next truck. Under no circumstances is the fly ash truck allowed to leave the Site with a <br /> load exceeding 80,000 lbs gross vehicle weight (GVW). <br /> The fly ash is transported from the Site via eagle bridge end dump (paddle conveyor) <br /> truck, standard end dump truck, pneumatic tanker, roll-off bin or a transfer trailer. Fly ash <br /> trucks are completely covered by tarpaulin as appropriate prior to leaving the Site. <br /> 7.2.2 BOTTOM ASH <br /> DTES is equipped with a bottom ash submerged drag conveyor. The water-submerged <br /> bottom ash is transported by conveyor to the bottom ash storage area. It is then loaded <br /> via front end loader onto trucks. Under no circumstances does a bottom ash truck leave <br /> 17 <br />
