PI DEPORT (June 20, 2003)
LOCKEFORD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EXPANSION
4.0 APPARENT PROBLEM
Based on the historical information reviewed and observations made during the initial site
inspection, potential sources of contamination at the Site include the following:
• leakage of truck maintenance fluids (e.g., solvents, motor oil, hydraulic fluid, and gear
oil) stored in aboveground drums or tanks,
• leakage of waste motor oil stored in an aboveground tank,
• leakage of fluids directly from trucks,
• leakage from the former underground fuel storage tank,
• the 1995 surface spill of diesel fuel, and
• railroad company activities along the former railroad right-of-way.
Therefore, contaminants of potential concern associated with the site include petroleum
hydrocarbons, semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs),
polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), residual
pesticides, and metals. Potentially impacted media are soil, soil gas, and shallow groundwater,
which were encountered at two sampling locations.
4-1 URS CORPORATION
PAPEA Lockeford\Report\Lockeford Report Rev doe
