cleaning will be performed by the driller. Field personnel will decontaminate
the split-tube sampler used for obtaining soil samples between each sample,
and any non-dedicated equipment that might come in contact with sampled
groundwater.
The following decontamination procedure will be followed:
• Wash with a phosphate-free detergent such as Alconox;
• Rinse with tap water; and
• Rinse with deionized water
4.3.2 Field-Generated Material Handling
Materials generated in the field during site characterization activities include
cuttings from soil borings and well drilling, and groundwater from well
development and aquifer testing.
4.3.3 Development of Monitoring Wells
Water will be extracted from each new well during development activities,
over a period of approximately four hours. The groundwater will be
discharged onto the ground. The low volumes and discharge rates associated
with well development along with careful dispersion of the water onto the
ground will facilitate evaporation and minimize percolation. No adverse
effects are anticipated as a result of discharging development water to the
ground surface at each well location.
Z:TROP-PRA 19W 1524-p\deIwbk4pt-1574-1 Aa
15
