Workplan, Technical Reports, Fact sheets, Direct mailers, Final
DHS Community Profile - August 1987 , Community Relations Plan,
Remedial Investigation Report , Feasibility Study, and the Risk
Assessment Report .
The Environmental Concerns Committee should be contacted by July
8, 1988 for permission to place their report in the repositories.
Schedule: The repositories should be established and available
reports should be deposited by July 8 , 1988.
Under Communications Network, add the San Joaquin County Toxic
Task Force and DHS Community Relations Coordinator , Leticia M.
Rico, to the list of representatives.
Also, the last CRP draft stated that one state representative
will represent the DHS and the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board. The Department asked if CVRWQCB approved
this? This question was not addressed in this draft . Please
respond to this question. The Department of Health Services wil
not be represented by the CVRWQCB.
Prior to calling the network please prepare, in writing, for
prior department approval, the update that will be relayed to
each representative.
Page D-21
Activity 4 describes the preliminary mailing list . In the
previous CRP draft, DHS requested that the mailing list include
the residents of Boggs Tract . This is not addressed in the
current draft. Please include this mailing list in the revision.
Also include a mailing list of port tenants for the same purpose.
The CVRWQCB requested that their Fresno office be removed from
the mailing list .
Page D-22
The progress report and community meeting announcement should
also give a summary of future site activities.
Prior to the meeting, determine if a Spanish translator is
needed.
Considering the large Spanish-speaking population, the progress
report should be bilingual English/Spanish. While the community
center has offered to distribute the progress report and meeting
notice, this is the responsibility of McCormick and Baxter .
However, if the community center is willing to do this and
notification is sufficient , the Department will permit this
exception with the condition that if a notification problem
arises, McCormick and Baxter will be responsible for correcting
the problem. State that the progress report should be mailed out
7-14 days before meetings or site activities.
Paragraph six notes that the originally proposed mailer will not
be sent due to delays in implementation. Community relations
activities (e.g. , community interviews) may be implemented before
