28 October 2020 AdvancedGeo
Project No. 20-6092 An Employee-Owned Company
Page 13 of 20
5.2.1. Tank Construction - 40 CFR 112.8 (c)(1)
The two 6,000 gallon manifolded ASTs at this Facility is a UL listed double walled
containers constructed of steel, in accordance to industry specifications as described
above. The manifold piping is constructed of steel as well. The date of manufacture was
noted to be 2016. The design and construction of all bulk storage containers are
compatible with the characteristics of the oil product they contain, and with temperature
and pressure conditions.
5.2.2. Secondary Containment - 40 CFR 112.8 (c)(2)
The two 6,000 gallon ASTs have built-in double wall containment structure and are
UL 2085 listed tanks. The tanks are mounted on a concrete pad which is approximately
16 feet by 27 feet with a four (4) inch high berm around each of the ASTs and associated
equipment. The concrete secondary containment is adequate to capture any accidental
spills or leaks associated with piping or dispensers within the concrete containment. The
calculation of the containment for the two 6,000-gallon tanks and equipment can be found
in Appendix H.
The two 1000 and 120 gallon new and used oil tanks are double walled shop fabricated
steel tanks provided by the manufacturer.
The 55 gallon drums containing new and waste petroleum products are placed on spill
pallets in designated areas within the shop area along a wall to minimize accidental
colliding by vehicles and or equipment. Each spill pallet provides a 110% capacity in the
event a 55 gallon container storing petroleum is breached or damaged.
The floor of the Shop and the waste oil storage area is impervious and allows for quick
cleanup by Facility personnel by use of strategically placed spill kits in proximity to the
petroleum storage containers.
5.2.3. Drainage of Berm Areas - 40 CFR 112.8(c)(3)
The concrete secondary containment of the 6,000 gallon ASTs are drained when
necessary under direct supervision of Facility personnel. The accumulated water is
observed for signs of oil prior to draining.
5.2.4. Corrosion Protection - 40 CFR 112.8(c)(4)
This section is not applicable since there are no underground storage tanks (ASTs/USTs)
at this Facility.
