s
s
The ranch homes located east of the site are also receptors of odors produced at the site.
The closest home is approximately 100 yards east of the poultry house. The next closest
home would be approximately 300 yards east of the facility.
If any questionable or objectionable on-site odors are detected by S.K.S. personnel, the
following protocol will be implemented:
An investigation will be conducted to determine the likely source of the odor.
Once the source of the odor is detected it will be determined what can be done to
reduce and/or eliminate the odor or causal agent.
S.K.S.investigators will determine in which direction and how far the odor has
traveled by noting the current wind pattern and surveying the site perimeter as
well as off-site areas if possible.
If it is determined that the odor impacts have occurred, they will be addressed
promptly.
• Every odor causing event will be documented for operational review.
Complaint Response Protocol
All odor complaints should be brought to the attention of S.K.S.management. S.KS.
employees, delivery driver, neighbor(s), etc., should state their concern of any odor(s)to the
office immediately. The office personnel will then contact the on-site facility manager(s)
who will be responsible for assessing where the odor is originating and what can be done to
eliminate it. A complaint log will be generated stating the time, date, climate condition
(hot, sunny, cold, raining, foggy, etc.), wind direction, and source of odor for review and
resolution of the problem if it persists.
OPERATING PROCEDURES TO MINIMIZE ODORS
The primary source of odor at this site occurs during the hot dry summer months when the
poultry manure sits in the storage tanks. By hauling off the poultry manure already
produced on-site,the odors should be reduced.
7
