o A single central repack area was designated for damaged and broken products
and cases to determine proper disposition (i.e., packaged for stores, discarded
as trash, or processed as hazardous waste).
■ There is a designated Associate on each shift assigned to the repack area.
o Two additional full-time technicians were added to the Hazardous Waste
Team.
o Six new housekeepers were added to the team, and all housekeepers completed
the hazardous waste management program.
o Extensive training was provided to new trainers throughout the DC on how to
drive a clean, safe and productive culture where all Associates adhere to the
"Clean as You Go"practice (EXHIBIT I).
• Item #303 - CCR 66265.33 - Failed to maintain all communication or alarm systems, spill
control, or decontamination equipment.
o CORRECTIVE ACTION:
■ Emergency Eyewash Station
• At the time of the inspection, the facility had a plumber on site to perform
maintenance work on the water system, adjacent to the maintenance area which
houses a shower and two eyewash sinks. The water pressure in the eyewash station
at the time of inspection was low and the shower was inconsistent. As soon as the
water pressure was restored, both nozzles and the shower were fully functional
(EXHIBIT K).
• As described above(Alleged Violation 301), the DC has put a broad housekeeping
strategy in place to minimize the release and amount of hazardous waste generated.
The key actions taken included identifying a central repack area, adding 2 more
technicians to the Maintenance/Hazardous Waste function, adding 6 more
Housekeepers, and providing additional training on the "Clean as You Go"
standards.
■ Fire Extinguisher
• The fire extinguisher in question, at post 53, was recharged(EXHIBIT K).
• Item #401 - CCR 66265.171 - Failed to store hazardous waste in a container that is in good
condition.
o CORRECTIVE ACTION:
■ Hazardous Waste Management - Transfer of Hazardous Waste — Appropriate
Containers
• DC staff collected loose product, both damaged and non-damaged,from throughout
the facility. The product collected was deposited in the trash, the repack area or the
Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area as applicable. All hazardous waste was
properly bagged and contained in an appropriate drum. Stericycle picked-up the
processed waste on October 24, 2019.
• As described above(Alleged Violation 301), the DC has put abroad housekeeping
strategy in place to minimize the release and amount of hazardous waste generated.
