Made of a PVC"buoy cage" and
E rubber float buoy, these valves automatically control the filtrate
return flow and liquid level within a tank. When the float buoy Stinger
is not seated(when there is no flow into the system),these
valves redirect the filtrate to the recirculation tank.As effluent
enters the tank and raises the liquid level, the valve can be set Buoy cage
to divert 20%to 100%of the filtrate to the discharge line. o a ,
IMPORTANT.- Be careful not to spill glue or primer onto the
float buoy.Any distortion of the buoy from glue or primer may
cause the valve to maffiinction. .
Step 6a: The stinger must be field-cut to length. Cut the 3" '
PVC pipe to the length specified in the engineering plans and
glue it to the manifold and top of the buoy cage.
x , Buoy
IMPORTANT• Stinger length is calculated according to theWf
system design and should be listed on the engineering plans. If Re#aining bar
the length is not specified, contact your system engineer. zF.
Ballast loop
Step 6b: Before installing the recirculation valve, make sure
the float buoy moves freely within the cage. There should be
1/8"to 114" clearance between the buoy and the inside wall of
the cage. Changes in elevation or temperature may cause the ;.
buoy to expand or contract, altering this clearance. if buoy
clearance is beyond the range specified, unthread the plugs
holding in the retaining bar on the bottom of the cage, remove t .
the buoy from the cage, and adjust the air pressure in the buoy
accordingly. When reassembling the apparatus,be sure to insert
the buoy into the cage with the ballast loop pointing down.
Step 6c: The recirculation valve is typically installed in the
riser over the recirculation tank's inlet tee. (Refer to your engi- `.
neeringPlans for proper location and settings.)Lowerwer the
assembly into the tank and connect it to the filtrate return line
and discharge line. The valve must be installed level and
placed so as not to interfere with the inlet tee.
NOTE: If the recirculation valve inlet and outlet holes are not
predrilled on the riser, see Appendix, Grommet Installation
Instructions,on page 12.
NIM-ATX-AX-2 @ 2003 Orenca Systems*Inc.
Rev 1.0,2/03
