oc soB zU 1Z
t
Hazardous waste pickups
Hazardous waste pickups typically occur 2-3 times per year. During the pickup periods,
Compliance will receive a weekly pickup schedule from StrongPak and notify stores with an
approximate pickup date. With only 2-3 pickups per year, and the many factors that can
impact scheduling, StrongPak cannot give an exact date or time for pickup,
Note: If your accumulation area is overtlowing and you need an additional pickup, contact
Compliance to schedule an interim pickup. They will have StrongPak come out as soon as
possible.
Procedure
When it is time for your scheduled pickup:
1. The StrongPak technician arrives at the Pharmacy and asks for the Pharmacy Manager.
2. The Pharmacy Manager verifies the identity of the StrongPak technician and permits
him/her access to the accumulation area.
3. The StrongPak technician takes the tote to his/her truck and processes the hazardous
waste along with all other store hazardous waste.
Note: The StrongPak technician will not remove any DEA Controlled Substances during
this pickup.
4. The StrongPak technician completes and prints a manifest identifying the hazardous
waste that was picked up.
5. The StrongPak technician asks the Pharmacy Manager to review the manifest (see next
page).
6. The StrongPak technician asks the Pharmacy Manager to review and sign the
Pharmaceutical Verification Form (see Pg. 9).
7. The StrongPak technician provides a copy of the signed Pharmaceutical Verification
Form form to the Pharmacy Manager,
8. The StrongPak technician signs the manifest, then provides a copy of the signed
manifest to the Person -in -Charge.
9. The Pharmacy Manager obtains a copy of the signed manifest for Pharmacy records.
