Site Safety and Health Plan
Stockton Field Maintenance Shop #24
8020 Airport Way, Stockton, CA
The SSHO will be responsible for determining the need for the use of TyvekTm or similar
polyethylene coated disposable coveralls. When personnel are working in disposable coveralls
extreme care will be maintained to ensure that personnel do not become susceptible to heat
related stresses. The SSHO will be responsible for monitoring for heat related stress in
accordance with Section 9.1 of this SSHP.
6.3 RESPIRATORY PROTECTION PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Star maintains a corporate written Respiratory Protection Program. The following section
references the written program, specifically governing the selection and use of respiratory
protection equipment (RPE). The program follows the respiratory protection requirements as
specified in 29 CFR 1910.134 and 8 CCR 5144.
Use accepted engineering control measures to reduce or eliminate air contamination
such as fogs, dust, mist, gases, smoke, sprays, or vapors. Control measures may
include enclosures, general and local exhaust ventilation, surface wetting, and
modification of the specific operations causing the airborne contamination.
If control measures cannot ensure safe air quality, as verified by air monitoring and
testing, employees shall use appropriate respirators.
Respirators and cartridges/filters will be selected on the basis of available
information concerning contamination at the site. Information on the contaminants
which are potentially present or expected to be at the site are found in Sections 3.0
and 4.0 of the SSHP.
Note: Additional information regarding potential air contaminants may be found in
the following sources: NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards and the ACGIH
TLV/BEI 2006 booklet.
All employees using respirators shall be instructed in the proper use of respirators
and their limitations. This includes a qualitative fit test to determine adequate face-
to-face piece seal.
Respirators shall be regularly cleaned and disinfected. During cleaning, respirators
shall be inspected for wear and tear. Worn or deteriorated parts will be replaced.
Respirators shall be stored in a clean and sanitary manner. For field operations, this
usually will be a large re-sealable bag.
The SSHO will monitor the respirator program on a daily basis and modify, as
necessary, and in conjunction with the PM and the Corporate Safety and Health
Manager, the use of respirators to provide maximum protection to the employees.
Respirators shall not be worn when conditions prevent a face-to-face piece seal such
as facial hair, scars and dentures.
23 Star Resources Corp
