Site Name, Country, Operating Stockton, California, USA Date of Construction: 1938 Site Ref. No.: 31
Company:
Total Site Area (m2),
Freehold/leasehold/other:
United Storage
8,900
Freehold

Total Tanks Present & 32
Storage Volume (m3): 272 871 m3

ISSUES FINDINGS IMPLICATION / CORRECTIVE
ACTION
ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING
Site Neighbours and Surrounding Land
Use
The site is located in a predominantly industrial area near the Port of Stockton.
North Port of Stockton warehouses and docks
South Westway (molasses storage and blending)
East Railway line, Duraflame (firewood supplier) warehouse
West Port of Stockton administration building
None
Topography The site is generally flat and at the same level as surrounding properties.
According to the USGS topographic maps, the site lies at approximately 1.5 — 3m above
sea level.
None
Geology The site is underlain by silt/clay mixtures in the shallow subsurface. Coarse sands and
gravels make up the shallow A-zone aquifer.
None
Hydrogeology The general groundwater flow direction in the site vicinity is towards the Stockton Deep
Water Channel to the northwest. The actual groundwater flow direction beneath the site is
unknown. The approximate depth to groundwater ranges between 3 — 6m below ground
None
surface (bgs).
Based on review of a hydrogeologic conceptual model from the May 1990 Remedial
Action Plan for the McCormick and Baxter Creosoting Company Superfund site, located
approximately 0.8km to the east-southeast of the site, a "shallow aquifer" extends from
ground surface to approximately 67m bgs. A "deep aquifer" underlies the shallow -aquifer.
The shallow aquifer is comprised of four zones: the A-zone extends from approximately
4.5 — 14m bgs, the B-zone extends from approximately 14 — 30m bgs, the C-zone extends
from approximately 30m to 49m bgs, and the D-zone extends from approximately 49 —
67m bgs.
Hydrology The site is separated from the Stockton Deep Water Channel to the north by the Port of
Stockton docks.
The operations manager stated that there are no issues of flooding at the site.
None
Water Abstractions None identified. None
Sensitive Land Uses None identified. None
Summary of environmental sensitivity Site is considered to be of moderate sensitivity with respect to potential soil, groundwater None
D CAEr GERNO-ITY&NALLER
INIEFNEC1C1451, INC 916703113.doc
