1. Health Surveillance of all Allwaste Transportation& Remediation, Inc. <br /> employees. <br /> 2. Assuring that safety procedures in effect are in compliance with all appropriate <br /> federal, state, local and company regulations. (The most stringent of the <br /> regulations will be adopted). <br /> 3. Maintenance of personnel exposure monitoring records. <br /> 4. Assuring appropriate personal protective equipment is adequate for actual hazards <br /> of on site conditions. <br /> 5. Assuring appropriate hazard areas are identified and marked. <br /> 6. Assuring all personnel entering the hazard area are in the appropriate levels of <br /> protection. <br /> SECTION 3.0 <br /> HEALTH AND SAFETY RISK ANALYSIS <br /> A: Hazard Analysis <br /> LEAD COMPOUNDS <br /> ` It is anticipated that Lead Compounds, in the form of sandblast residue will be <br /> encountered on the site. <br /> It is anticipated that inhalation and dermal exposure will be the potential pathways of <br /> concern. Air purifying respiratory protective devices will be worn by personnel working <br /> on the site while excavating and loading the impacted materials. All respirators will be <br /> fitted with organic vapor type cartridges with dust pre-filters. All cartridges will be <br /> changed on a routing basis. Personnel in the work zone will be required to also wear <br /> tyvek suits, disposable nitrile or rubber gloves, and rubber boots. <br /> In addition, during the excavation activities in areas where increased levels of <br /> contaminates are encountered,personnel working on the site will monitor wind direction <br /> and speed, and snake every effort to operate in an upwind direction of the excavation. <br /> Apporiate wet methods (dust control) will be utilized during the sandblast residue <br /> removal process to minimize potential airborne dust particles. <br /> B: Non-Chemical Hazard Summary <br /> HEAVY MACHINERY <br /> The use of heavy machinery (trucks, forklifts, backhoes, etc.) in areas where unprotected <br /> personnel are working warrants special attention on the part of all personnel. Operators <br /> and drivers should ensure that equipment is working properly and is being run in a safe <br /> manner. In order to avoid accidents,they should also be aware of the location of <br />
