Work Plan for Environmental Investigation June 21, 1989
Waterfront Redevelopment, Stockton, California AGS 39048-1W
o Survey the monitoring wells and selected site features
using the services of a licensed land surveyor.
o Evaluate ground-water flow direction and gradient
beneath the site.
o Interpret field and laboratory data to evaluate the
extent of hydrocarbon contamination.
o Prepare a report describing subsurface conditions at
the site as revealed by the soil-vapor survey and in
the borings and wells; discussing the local geology,
hydrogeology, and ground-water usage; interpreting
laboratory results; and summarizing our findings,
conclusions, and recommendations.
To evaluate whether areas of contamination exist beneath the
redevelopment property, we recommend that the soil-vapor survey
be conducted prior to drilling soil borings and constructing
monitoring wells. After the results of the soil-vapor survey are
interpreted, three ground-water monitoring wells will be
installed. If results of the soil-vapor survey indicate
hydrocarbon levels are below its detection limit, the ground-
water monitoring wells will be constructed in locations shown on
Plate P-2 to evaluate and monitor ground-water quality in the
former locations of storage tanks. However, if the soil-vapor
survey indicates higher concentrations of hydrocarbon soil-vapor
in other locations, the monitoring wells will be placed in the
area of each parcel with the highest soil-vapor hydrocarbon
concentration or in locations that seem strategic to interpreting
the migration of hydrocarbons.
7
App/iea' GOOSYSAPMS
