GENESIS ENGINEERING& REDEVELOPMENT
6. Vertical Gradients
a. Measure the vertiw«l i;iadients between the upper and deeper water bearing
units
The Work Plan incorporates the following documents, which are included as Appendices
to this Work Plan:
1. Sampling and Analysis Plan ("SAP")—Appendix B
2. Quality Assurance Project Plan("QAPP")—Appendix C
3. Health and Safety Plan ("HASP")—Appendix D
4. Well Abandonment Work Plan—Appendix E
2.1 Task 1 —Native Soil Investigation
To investigate potential impacts to the native soil beneath the DePaoli Parcel of former
disposal site, 24 on-Site soil borings will be advanced at the locations shown on Figure 4.
In addition, 4 off-Site, "background" soil borings will be advanced at locations selected
based on the analyses in the Task 5 Tidal Study. The borings will be advanced using
direct-push technology in accordance with the procedures in the Sampling and Analysis
Plan (Appendix B). The on-Site borings will be advanced through the waste drilling mud
into the native soil to approximately 1 foot below the groundwater interface. The 4 off-
Site background soil borings will be advanced to 1 foot below the groundwater water
interface. The soil core will be continuously logged for each boring in accordance with
the procedures in the Sampling and Analysis Plan.
Three soil samples will be collected from each boring: (i) 1 foot below the drilling mud,
(ii) 3 feet below the drilling mud, and(iii) in the vadose zone immediately above the
shallow water bearing unit. The soil sample will be collected in accordance with the
procedures in the Sampling and Analysis Plan.
Initially only the soil samples collected from 1 foot below the drilling mud will be
analyzed. If constituents of concern are identified above the target lean-up levels in any
of these samples, additional analyses will be conducted on the deeper samples collected
from that specific location(s).
Site Investigation Work Plan 9 of 18
DePaoli Property
November 14,2007
