GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
The analytical procedures, sample volumes, sample preservation, and holding times are
presented in the Sampling and Analysis Plan.
2.2 Task 2—Drilling Mud Investigation
To further evaluate the mobility of the diesel hydrocarbons detected in the drilling mud,
the length of the hydrocarbon chains will be evaluated to assess mobility characteristics.
These data will be further evaluated in combination with the analytical data collected
from the analyses of the native soils,to further evaluate the mobility of the diesel range
hydrocarbons.
The same 24 borings used to collect the native soil samples will be used to collect the
drilling mud samples (Figure 4). The borings will be advanced using direct-push
technology in accordance with the procedures in the Sampling and Analysis Plan
(Appendix A). One composite drilling mud sample will be collected from each boring.
The sample will be collected as a four-foot section of core taken from the approximate
center of the distance between the top and bottom of the drilling mud. The drilling mud
sample will be collected in accordance with the procedures in the Sampling and Analysis
Plan.
The drilling mud samples will be analyzed for the following constituents:
1. Volatile Organic Compounds ("VOC");
2. Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds("SVOC");
3. Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline("TPHg");
4. Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel ("TPHd");
5. Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene (`BTEX");
6. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons("PAH");
7. Oil and Grease; and
8. Alkalinity, Calcium, Chloride,pH, Sodium,Potassium, Sulfate, and Sulfide.
The drilling mud samples will also be analyzed to determine if the extractable
concentrations of the Title 22 Metals and Hexavalent chromium are below the MCLS or
other applicable water quality standards. Drilling mud samples will be subjected to both
deionized water and citric acid extraction.
Site Investigation Work Plan 11 of 18
DePaoli Property
November 14,2007
