I. <br />4.4 GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY SAMPLING <br />Kleinfelder coordinated the investigation for the possibility of an existing underground storage <br />tank on the site by implementing a geophysical survey of the suspect area (see Plate 3). The <br />survey was conducted by Norcal Geophysical Consultants, Inc. of Petaluma, California. The area <br />investigated is located on the west side of the existing corrugated steel warehouse near the <br />western portion of the site. The survey included the use of Electromagnetic Metal Detection <br />(MD) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). <br />A horizontal control survey grid was layed out in the investigation area. the area extended <br />approximately 150 feet from north to south and 37 feet east to west. The previously established <br />grid was traversed using a hand carried metal detector followed by the use of the GPR. <br />Additional traverses were conducted over areas of suspect signatures.
