25 October 2016
AGE Project No. 11-1847
Page 2 of 8
and the advancement of four (4) off-site and downgradient soil borings to depths of
approximately 125 feet bsg. The proposed groundwater monitoring wells/downgradient
soil borings will assess off-site potential groundwater hydrocarbon impact to the aquifer
groundwater zone, resulting from the previously installed leaking UST's.
Additionally, the scope of work will include the drilling of one (1) 20-foot soil boring to
evaluate for waste oil (i.e. adjacent to Tank #1), and the drilling of three (3) 5-foot soil
borings to evaluate the site's dermal contact risk from soils between 0-5 feet
The scope of work will include the following tasks:
Permitting and pre-field work activities;
On-site, drilling and soil sample collection;
Off-site, downgradient soil boring advancement;
Monitoring well installation and development;
Laboratory analysis of soil and grab groundwater samples;
Preparation of a report of findings.
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable drilling/well installation permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (EHD), while encroachment permits will be obtained
from the City of Stockton Public Works Department. In addition, an update to the health
and safety plan presently on-file will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety
and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, each proposed boring/well
locations will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground
Service Alert.
2.2. DRILLING AND SAMPLE ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance two (2) off-site soil borings to depths of approximately 100 feet
bsg for the purpose of logging lithology and for installation of deep groundwater
monitoring wells; AGE proposes to advance one (1) off-site soil boring to a depth of
approximately 40 feet bsg for the installation of one shallow groundwater monitoring well;
AGE proposes the drilling of four (4) soil borings to depths of approximately 125 feet bsg
for the purpose logging lithology and for collection of shallow, intermediate and deep grab
groundwater samples.
Soil borings will be advanced using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with either 6.25-
inch or 8.25-inch hollow-stem augers; at depths less than 20 feet bsg, a van-mounted
Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc
