San Joaquin County Environmental Checklist
■ Species listed or proposed for listing by the State of California as
threatened or endangered under CESA(14 California Code of
Regulations [CCR] 670.5).
■ Species that meet the definitions of"rare"or"endangered"under
CEQA (State CEQA Guidelines, Section 15380).
■ Plants listed as rare under the California Native Plant Protection Act
(California Fish and Game Code, Section 1900 et seq.).
■ Plants considered by California Native Plant Society(CNPS)to be
"rare, threatened, or endangered in California"(California Native
Plant Society 2001).
■ Plants listed by CNPS as plants about which more information is
needed to determine their status and plants of limited distribution,
which may be included as special-status species on the basis of local
significance or recent biological information.
■ Animal species of special concern to the California Department of
Fish and Gane(DFG)
■ Animals fully protected in California(California Fish and Game
Code Sections 3511 [birds],4700 [mammals], 5050 [amphibians and
reptiles]),and 5515 [fish]).
iSpecial-Status Plants
Based on a review of DFG's California Natural Diversity Database(CNDDB)
(2005)species lists for the project region and biological communities present in
the area, a total of seven special-status plant species were identified as
potentially occurring in the project area(Table 2-5). None of the plant species
listed in Table 2-1 have been documented in the landfill property(California
Natural Diversity Database 2005);however, it is unlikely that the landfill
property has been surveyed for special-status plants, and no floristic surveys
were conducted for the proposed project.
Notice of Preparation for the June 2006
North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill 2-25
Permit Revision AS 0630706
