Ross Robert Truck Repair Used Oil Tank
Interim Assessment and Conditional Certification
September 14, 2021
impact by the containment walls. The tank is not anchored. The tank rests on a concrete pad and is not
in contact with soil. If failure of the tank was to occur, it could be seen by the operators.
The tank is coated to provide corrosion protection. Some areas of the metal coating on the tank top and
along the top of the tank sides is worn off. However, the tank is located indoors, is not in contact with
soil and subject to minimal external corrosion.
The tank is equipped with a Graco Husky 1050 air operated diaphragm pump. Portable containers will
be brought to the tank area where the pump and a one-inch hose will be used to suction out the container
into the tank. There is small air line to the diaphragm pump. There is no other piping on the tank.
There is a Hazardous Waste Accumulation Sticker on the tank. There is no accumulation start date
entered on the sticker.
There is an unused pump at the west end of the tank and two uncapped ports on the east side of the
tank top. One of these uncapped ports is used when emptying the tank.
Venting
The primary tank has an emergency vent but no atmospheric vent. The secondary tank has an
atmospheric vent installed but no emergency vent. A five-inch port on the secondary tank is capped off.
Piping
There is a one-inch flexible hose from the diaphragm pump on the tank top to a portable container.
Secondary containment of the flexible hose is provided by the concrete containment area. Piping from
the tank is visually monitored for leaks.
Monitoring
The tank fluid level is monitored by manually sticking the tank. The tank's secondary containment is
also monitored by manually sticking the tank.
5.0 Field Checklist
A field checklist was used by Trident Environmental and Engineering, Inc. personnel during the site
inspection.
