Adk Page 2 of 2
Cc: Wochnick, Michael
Subject: RE: Design of LFG migration Monitoring Wells, Foothill and North County Landfills
Hello Robert and Natalia: I have reviewed the attached submittal by Mike Carroll for the
Foothill and North County Landfills. Here is what I suggest based on my review of the
submittal:
1. LFG monitoring probes should be installed to the depth of fill at closure; however, the
operator needs to make sure that the existing depth of fill will be monitored.
2. The typical monitoring well included with the submittal (sheet 3 of 7) does not appear to
show the adequate 5 feet of bentonite seal above the screened section of shallow probe.
3. Screen depth for each probe within a well must be tabulated on the well schedule for
each landfill.
I suggest the operator to provide the LEA and CIWMB with adequate time prior to start of such
activities in the field so that we could be present during the drilling activities and the installation
of the probes.
From: Michael Carroll [mailto:mcarroll@sjgov.org]
Sent: Friday, May 16, 2008 7:38 AM
To: Robert McClellon [EH]
Cc: Yekta, Gino; Wochnick, Michael
Subject: Design of LFG migration Monitoring Wells, Foothill and North County Landfills
Good morning Robert,
Attached is a letter with attached figures addressing the questions about the design of the LFG monitoring
wells, as promised.
Please call with any questions.
Best regards,
Mike Carroll
W.
