Alarms -112.8 (c)(8)fl) as
There are high level alarms on each of the two salvage storage tanks to provide overflow
protection.
Pump Cutoff -112.8 (c) (8) (ii)
There are no liquid level pump cutoff devices utilized at this facility.
Communication - 112.8 (c)(8)(M)
In the event that an AST, such as a diesel fuel tank, is filled from a tanker located a distance
from the container that does not allow the driver to visually check the gauge and stand by the
truck, the loading of these ASTs includes two people (one gauging the liquid level in the tank
and one at the truck) with a direct line of communication via hand held radio, cell phone, or
visual with predetermined hand signals to prevent overfilling the container or an equivalent
method which prevents an overfill of the tank.
Liquid Level Sensing Devices -112.8 (c)(8)(N) & (v)
Based on information provided by the facility, the diesel fuel ASTs are filled using direct
vision methods to prevent overfilling. The facility does not have computers or telepulse
devices to act as fast response systems for determining liquid level of each bulk storage
container. High liquid level sensors were installed on the two salvage oil tanks. Regular
testing of liquid level sensing devices is applicable to the tanks with high liquid level sensors
and/or liquid level gauges,. Liquid level sensors and high liquid level sensors should be
inspected or tested once a year or as indicated in the manufacturer's specifications.
Discharge Observations -112.8 (c)(9)
The drainage ditch, located on the northeast side of the facility, is inspected on a monthly
basis for indications of a release (see inspection forms included as Appendix Q.
Equipment Failure Repairs -112.8 (c)(10)
Observable oil leaks not currently supported within the secondary containment which result
in a loss of oil from the container, including but not limited to seams, gaskets, piping, pumps,
valves, rivets, and bolts will be corrected within 8 hours of detection or the material
transferred to another tank or tote until repairs are made. Oil from the observed release that
may accumulate within the secondary containment (if present) must be removed.
34 May 2017August 2016
