PLUMBING PIPING SYSTEMS <br />Section 15400 <br />15-1207 <br />Soldering Materials: Joints in copper tubing for all installations shall be made with <br />brazing alloy sil-fos, or equal. Clean surfaces to be jointed shall be free of oil, grease, <br />rust, and oxides. <br />1. Harris Stay -Safe 50 solder, or equal, may be permitted on plumbing lines above <br />slab or ground only with prior review for piping sizes 2 inches and smaller only. <br />Solders used shall contain no lead. <br />Comply with SFA -5.8, Section II, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for brazing <br />filler metal materials. <br />K. Gaskets for Flanged Joints: ANSI B16.21; full-faced for cast- iron flanges; raised -face <br />for steel flanges, unless otherwise indicated. <br />2.02 PIPING AND FITTINGS: <br />A. Sanitary Sewer Piping: <br />Cast iron, no -hub soil pipe. Provide with neoprene sleeve gaskets and stainless <br />steel couplings. <br />2. Cast Iron Hub and Spigot Soil Pipe and Fittings: CISPI Standard 301 (Latest <br />Edition) and ASTM A 74. Pipe and fittings shall be marked with the collective <br />trademark of the Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute. <br />3. Couplings to be heavy-duty type in conformance with Factory Mutual Standard <br />1680, Class I and ASTM C 1540. <br />a. Couplings to be "Husky" SD4000, Orange Shield coupling as manufactured <br />by Husky Technologies or "Clamp All" Class I couplings. <br />b. No -Hub Cast -Iron Soil Pipe Couplings: Couplings for use in connection with <br />no -hub Cast Iron Soil Pipe and Fittings shall comply with CISPI 310. Shield <br />and clamp assembly shall consist of a 300 series stainless steel corrugated <br />shield, stainless steel bands, number as required for pipe size, and sealing <br />sleeve in conformance with ASTM C564. <br />4. At Contractor's option, vertical piping above floor from lavatories and sinks may <br />be standard weight galvanized steel pipe with class 125 black cast iron fittings, <br />drainage pattern, screwed joints. <br />5. At Contractor's option, Type DWV hard drawn copper tubing with cast bronze <br />solder joint fittings and lead free solder may be used above ground in lieu of cast <br />iron drainage fittings. Provide test tees as specified. <br />6. Acceptable manufacturer's <br />a. Tyler pipe <br />b. AB&I <br />C. Or equal <br />B. Sanitary Vent Piping: <br />Cast iron, no -hub soil pipe.
