PLUMBING EQUIPMENT <br />Section 15450 <br />15-1207 <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSTALLATION OF ELECTRIC HEAT TRACE: <br />A. The system shall be installed according to the drawings and the manufacturer's <br />instructions. The installer shall be responsible for providing a functional system, installed <br />in accordance with applicable national and local requirements. <br />B. Each circuit shall be protected with a 30 mA ground -fault protection device. <br />C. Testing: <br />Procedure: Measure the heater circuit continuity and the insulation resistance <br />between the braid and the bus wires with a 2500 Vdc megohmmeter (megger). <br />2. Acceptable results: The heater circuit shall be continuous and megger readings <br />shall be at least 1000 megohm regardless of the heater length. Circuits yielding <br />unacceptable readings must be repaired or replaced. <br />3. The tests should be performed after the pipe insulation has been installed and <br />prior to the installation of wall or ceiling panels. <br />4. The Inspector of Record and the Manufacturer's Representative shall witness <br />tests. Test results shall be recorded, signed, and dated by the Contractor, <br />Inspector of Record, and Manufacturer's Representative. <br />5. Contractor to provide copies of test results to the Architect <br />3.02 INSTALLATION OF GAS-FIRED HOT WATER HEATERS: <br />A. Install power gas-fired heaters as indicated, in accordance with manufacturer's <br />installation instructions and in compliance with applicable codes. <br />B. Furnish wiring diagram to Electrical Installer. Refer to Division 16 for wiring of units, not <br />work of this section. <br />C. Connect hot and cold water piping to units with shutoff valves and dielectric unions. <br />Connect drain and relief piping as noted on Drawings. <br />D. Start-up, test, and adjust water heaters in accordance with manufacturer's start-up <br />instructions. Check and calibrate controls. <br />3.03 POTABLE WATER EXPANSION TANK <br />A. Install potable water expansion tank per manufacturer's written instructions. Secure tank <br />to structure with strut -material and steel strap. <br />3.04 TRAINING: <br />A. Provide a minimum of 3 hours of training and orientation of Owners staff in proper care <br />and operation of tankless gas fired water heaters. <br />4 <br />
