DUCTLESS SPLIT SYSTEM
AC UNITS
Section 15865
15-1207
2.04 CONDENSATE DRAIN:
A. Provide type L hard drawn copper tubing with wrought copper solder joint fittings; no iron
to copper connections; copper fittings with IPS outlets and threaded brass nipples at
connections to fixtures and equipment; di -electric couplings or unions at connections to
dissimilar materials. Supply piping with temporary caps on all piping.
2.05 VIBRATION ISOLATOR:
A. Condensing units to be mounted on spring vibration isolator. Mason Type SSLFH or equal
with 1" deflection.
B. Spring Isolation manufacturer to provide structural calculations for anchorage of outdoor
condensing unit. Calculations to be stamped/signed by a California Licensed Structural
Engineer. Calculations to be submitted to DSA as a deferred approval process and
manufacturer to be responsible for addressing any/all DSA comments.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 TEST OF PIPING:
A. Test piping at completion of roughing in, in accordance with the following:
1. Pressurize with dry nitrogen to 300 psig and test all joints with an electronic
detector or halide torch.
2. Release the pressure and attach a high vacuum pump. Evacuate to 4,000
microns and hold for 30 minutes.
3. Break vacuum with dry nitrogen and pressurize to 5 psig. Hold pressure in
system for 10 minutes.
4. Evacuate to 2,000 microns and hold for 30 minutes.
5. Use a mercury manometer or electronic vacuum gauge to measure pressures.
Do not start timing until recommended vacuum range is reached.
6. Show no loss in pressure or visible leaks after each test at the test pressures
indicated. Tests to be verified by Inspector of Record.
B. Testing equipment, materials, and labor shall be furnished by this Contractor.
C. Repair piping systems sections which fail required piping test, by disassembly and
reinstallation, using new materials to extent required to overcome leakage. Do not use
chemicals, stop -leak compounds, mastics, or other temporary repair methods.
3.02 INSTALLATION OF AC UNITS:
A. Install ductless split system air conditioners where indicated on drawings.
B. Install in accordance with equipment manufacturer's written instructions and with
recognized industry practices, to ensure that units comply with requirements and serve
intended purposes.
7
